Juego De Bastardo, in Book Form

Komixpage: Why “Juego De Bastardo?

Eldon:  It’s a survival game, which mean, game of the bastard.

Komixpage:  Bastard means illegitimate child isn’t it? Nangangahulugan bang…

Eldon: Yes. All of us who played in that game, was illegitimate.  Children’s born out of wedlock.

Komixpage:  How many of you who played that game?

Eldon: Five… hmmm… six, actually.

Komixpage: How dangerous is that game?

Eldon: It’s a game of death.

Komixpage:  And all the players in that game were gifted too? Isn’t it?

Eldon:  Exactly.

Komixpage:  Can you name them? What specific gift did they possessed.

Eldon: A barefooted guy named REDONDO have a strength like a bull. Si MADERO ay may nakamamatay na haplos. Kahit malusog, kaya niyang papagkasakitin.

Komixpage: How about OPHEL. Ang babaeng kasama mong nakaligtas?

Eldon: She’s a healer. With her touch, she can performed miracle.

Komixpage:  Who was the proponent of the game and what was his intention?

Eldon: President Santana of Calica. In his desire to get back the five talismans, that the assassins stole from his father; he recruited and sent us into a dangerous mission of hunting them.  According to him, an oracle told him na kaming lima lang ang may kakayahan at kaloob na magagamit para mabawi ang talisman sa mga pumatay sa kanyang ama.

Komixpage:  How important, are those talisman to him?

Eldon:  It can give him strength, speed, health, third eye, and the power to control fire.

Komixpage:  What was the prized he offered?  Bakit kayo pumayag?

Eldon: Only Redondo and Madero accepted the offer. Kontrolado niya ang aming kalayaan, and our life was in danger too.

Eldon: We are trained to fight for survival.

Komixpage: And your gift was speed too, am I right?

Eldon: Yes, but I can talk and communicate to the wind.

Komixpage:  What a gift! By the way, you mentioned there are six of you who actually participated in Juego De Bastardo?  Sino ang pang-anim na bastardo?

Eldon: My books can answer all your questions as a whole and in details. You may know how we hunted the possessors of those talismans, how we fought and took it from them, how we played Juego De Bastardo after our mission, how we struggled and how we survived that dangerous game of death.

Komixpage:  By the way, I saw Ophel, and she is very beautiful.  Hindi ba niya napatibok ang iyong puso?

Eldon: (Eldon just smiled)  No comment. Just read the books kapag natapos na.  It can answer all your questions.

Komixpage: Ok. Thanks for your time and to the interview.

Salvador Cabrera's Cartoon Characters

Salvador Cabrera
Cartoonist/Illustrator

Salvador Cabrera was a young artist during the 50's. He was also the one who drew the cartoon character "Bindoy". Actually  it was originally created by E.A Aguilar, who signed “Kabigting” in the strip and an associate editor of Daily Mirror that time. Salvador Cabrera or Bading, as they called him, was among the country's top cartoonist during that decade, and in the league of known newspaper cartoonist like E.Z. Izon, Ben Alcantara, Mauro Malang Santos, Roddy Ragodon, Hugo Yonzon, etc. etc.

Bindoy

"Bindoy"  was a gentle farm boy whose strength is the strength of ten, not only because he used to work in a ricefield, but because his heart is pure. He is a character descended from the ancient Filipino folk-hero tradition, touched with Aguilar's own brand of satire: strong, silent, guileless, well-meaning-and more than slightly simple-minded.

 Senador Bigat
Senador Bigat,  was a politician cartoon character they also introduced in the said cartoon strip
